Halloween is only a few days away! As Singer/Songwriter Chris Rea once sung, it could be “The Road To Hell” judging by these haunted roads!
Perhaps you’re heading to a halloween themed party, but your chosen mode of transport is to drive the dark roads. The last thing you need to run into is a supernatural experience!
Whether or not you believe in ghosts and ghouls, travelling these roads will send a shiver down your spine. If you’re brave enough to take a drive down a horrific highway or a grim reaper of a road as part of your long journey, make sure your vehicle is up to date with repairs that eradicates any faults. If you’re stranded on the side of these roads below, don’t say we didn’t warn you about any ghastly goings on!
So without further or do, let’s take a look at some of the most haunted roads that you might just be travelling on this Halloween:
- The A9, Scottish Highlands – Mysterious Coach & Horses
This stretch of motorway is believed to be one of Scotland’s most haunted roads!
- The A75, Kirkcudbrightshire – The Haunted Highway
Sightings have been reported of people walking out in front of cars on the A75, but there’s no impact and no sign of any proof.
- Bligh’s Lane, Londonderry – The Caring Old Lady
This steep street is home to the ghost of a woman who is said to cross the road to reach a nearby well. In the 1950s two boys tobogganing down the hill saw the woman with her buckets and swerved to miss her. They later realised if they hadn’t they’d have been killed by a truck coming the other way.
- Abbey Lane, Whitby – Bram Stoker’s Inspiration
Many stories are associated with this lane, including a phantom horse-drawn coach that speeds along the cliff before plunging into the sea below!
- A666, Bolton – Devil’s Highway
The ‘Devil’s Highway’ is home to a dark shadow that is known to appear in front of motorists, keep your eye out!
- A541, North Wales – The Lady in Black
Many shocked motorists have reported accidents with a woman wearing black, Victorian style dress here but nothing has been found – maybe you’ll be the first!
- The M6 – Most Haunted Motorway
The M6 is the longest motorway so perhaps it’s unsurprising that it has its fair share of ghastly goings on, are you venturing down this stretch of tarmac?
- Cock Lane, London – Terrifying Noises
Drivers are likely to hear strange noises and screams in the dead of night that can’t be explained…
- B3212, Devon – Haunted Hands
The rumour has it, a pair of disembodied hands suddenly seem to take the wheel of drivers’ cars…
- A229 Sussex – The Ghost Bride
The woman said to haunt this road is Judith Langham who was tragically killed on her wedding day. There have been plenty of reports here of cars hitting a woman in a white dress – avoid her at all costs if you can, otherwise it might just be the road to hell!
